Arctic Ocean

We had to pre-register 24 hours in advance for the tour. Apparently they do background checks before they let anyone into the area where the wells and support infrastructure are, mainly for liability purposes. They don't want the public driving around and lost in the 300 square miles that encompass the area where the oil is drilled and pumped.

We got on the tour bus with about a dozen other people - most of them adventure bikers and went to the ocean. We had to pass through a check-point to get on the road that led to the ocean. The driver was not allowed to let any of us out of the small tour bus until we got to the designated area, and after a dusty 10 minute ride arrived at the ocean.

Risto had the big fat cigars that we had so carefully transported over 3 thousand miles and we stood in the water and smoked them. :)

Then we drew straws to decide who got to go swimming, and who has to video. (that's my story haha) Risto and Graham won and pulled their trunks on. The weather was beautiful.
